Senior Mandarin Classes

We use Chinese Made Easy book series and HSK series as a framework for class and homework. Students will establish a solid foundation of vocabulary, grammar, knowledge of Chinese and communication skills through natural and graduate integration of language, content and culture. The simultaneous development of listening, speaking, reading and writing is especially emphasized.

HSK3–4: Intermediate. Can talk about familiar topics and read simple texts.

HSK5–6: Advanced. Can discuss complex topics and read newspapers or books.

HSK7–9: Very advanced. Can read long texts, academic materials, and use formal or Classical Chinese.

This course covers more vocabulary and grammar knowledge, helping students communicate effectively in real-life situations. Through the simultaneous development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, students can comprehensively improve their Chinese proficiency.

We also cover rich elements of Chinese culture, helping students understand Chinese culture while learning the language.

The course is designed with a focus on practicality, helping students use Chinese appropriately and accurately in real-life situations, and express their views and thoughts logically and coherently. While developing Chinese language skills, we also encourage students to think independently and critically.

HSK - The Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, or Chinese Proficiency Test, is an international test for Chinese learners. This examination is crucial for Chinese language learners, as it checks listening, reading, and writing skills. It has 9 levels, from beginner to advanced.

Given that more than half of the students come from English-speaking backgrounds, teaching is conducted in both English and Chinese.

Teaching students the structure of Chinese characters, words and expressions, sentence making, spoken language, daily language, Chinese grammar structure and writing short passages in the most simple and understandable way.

Additionally add adjectives, polysyllables, antonyms and commonly used words in life. Increase interaction with students and related interesting topics to stimulate students' interest in learning.
